We empower citizens, engineers, and local governments through targeted education, technical consulting, and concrete projects. We translate EU energy goals into real results for the Adriatic region.
📷 Lucas Messere / UnsplashAdriatic OIE is an association of experts, engineers, and energy enthusiasts focused on Zadar County and the broader Adriatic region. We act as a bridge between national energy policies and concrete local projects.
Our role is clear: to be a "translator" — between distribution system operators and investors, between EU regulations and citizens, between technical complexity and practical action. We don't advocate vague visions; we offer concrete expert support.
In 2026, as Croatia's energy sector undergoes intensive digitalisation and the Adriatic region becomes a pilot area for Smart Grid technology, our expertise becomes a critical resource for the community.
We serve as the central communication hub between all key players in the energy transition — from citizens and engineers, to local governments, grid operators, and EU funds.
We are not an eco-NGO handing out flyers. We are not a political organisation. We deal with technically complex issues and provide verifiable answers.
We don't say "renewables are the future because we feel it"
Every position we take is grounded in measurable data, technical calculations, and real-world experience. When data doesn't support a thesis — we change the thesis, not the data.
We don't advocate "100% renewable by 2030"
The energy transition requires time to build infrastructure, adapt the grid, and train personnel. The pace must be aligned with technical and economic realities.
We don't organise protests or petitions
Our members are engineers, designers, and technicians with hands-on experience in power engineering and renewable energy systems. We offer consulting, not activism.
We don't deal in global declarations
Focusing on the Adriatic region means we know local conditions — from solar irradiance and wind patterns to grid status and local government capacity. Generic solutions don't work here.
Rather than one generic conference per year, we focus on specialised, targeted actions that deliver visible results in the community and build stakeholder trust.
The first point of contact for clarifying grid connection rules, prosumer status, and technical requirements for renewable sources. We translate complex regulations into actionable guidelines for investors and citizens.
Concrete assistance to municipalities and cities — from mapping public building rooftops, to preparing tender documentation, to technical support in implementing SECAP action plans.
We connect the Adriatic region with EU partners through Interreg programmes, particularly with Italian regions sharing similar challenges: tourism, islands, and cultural heritage protection.
We organise workshops for citizens on subsidies and procedures for own-generation, and specialised technical symposia for engineers and project designers.
The Adriatic region is a pilot area for advanced grid technology in Croatia. Our team helps end users understand and leverage the opportunities of distributed energy production within new grid systems.
We identify and facilitate access to funding sources — from FZOEU subsidies and the ITP island programme, to Interreg calls and innovative micro-investment models for renewable energy projects.
The region's energy potential that motivates and guides our work.
From building foundations and earning trust, to positioning the Adriatic region as an energy-advanced community.
Launching the first concrete initiatives: educational workshops for citizens, technical symposia for professionals, and operational collaboration with municipalities. Focus on visible results that build community trust.
Establishing the association as the technical authority for renewables in the region. Building partnerships with HEP ODS, local governments, and EU partners. Launching cross-border projects through the Interreg Italy-Croatia programme.
Working on more complex projects — from advanced energy models to groundwork for energy communities. Active lobbying to reduce administrative barriers at the national level.
Positioning Adriatic OIE as the leading regional centre for renewable energy. The Adriatic region as a model of a technologically advanced, energy-resilient community.
The energy transition is not just a technical challenge — it is an opportunity to build a more sustainable, stable, and better future for the generations to come. Every area of expertise is welcome.
